School Blazer

We visited my old school in Windermere today; I didn't realise I would find it quite so emotional. Lots has changed and some bits are exactly the same. I stood in the dormitory I spent my first night at school in and it was all very strange. I closed my eyes and imagined being 13 again and the memories bombarded me one after the other.
Tuck shop is now where the photocopier is kept, one of my dormies is now a meeting room and kitchen, the physics lab is unchanged and took me back to days of 'tech club' as is the hall where many a performance was (and still is) staged. It was so much to take in - the old memories overlapping the new environment. I was sad to learn that Chapel Ridding (the building where I boarded from 14) is now not part of the school :(

I loved this footstool in reception, it's covered in the same fabric as the deckchairs school blazers !
