Today was a rare opportunity to meet people, real people, not on a screen but in real life. There was a little artisan market nearby and a great opportunity, in the sunshine, to see and hear and talk. And there I met Ian, a woodturner who, after years of ill-health, found release through pursuing his hobby and selling just enough to put food on the table. The extra is of a young man who also followed his passion and makes craft gin out of the tiniest of distilling sheds. It was great to talk to these people, and many others, who found that their health and well being is so much better after changing course and making a living, however meagre, out of crafting.
