Twig In Space

The ice cover in the inlet is just the right thickness to see the trapped methane bubbles from decaying vegetation trapped beneath. Later in the season when the ice thickens or is covered in snow, they won't be visible. Any warmer and the ice would melt.

Close up like this, they seem almost to be some form of constellation in outer space. Only the twig to upset the illusion, but without it the image might not be so interesting. I think the angle of view is important to show the shape of the bubbles below the surface.

Extra: Bursting To Escape. Bubbles and their source trapped beneath the surface.
