Only Full Day

After fourteen hours sleep recovering from yesterday our first stop this morning and breakfast was at the historic village of Findhorn. Located on the edge of Findhorn Bay it was once an important commercial and fishing port, featuring a thriving shipbuilding industry with trading links to Scandinavia and beyond. The village has one of the major sailing and watersports centres along the coastline and has a great beach and a delightful harbour. Despite the freezing rain and biting wind it was enjoyable.

Next stop the Phoenix Cafe inside the Findhorn Community Project, it appears that Joshua knows all the best places for coffee and cake. Sam was excited with the concept of community style living, I liked the ‘Stop’ sign.

We saw the barracks where Joshua lives and works, very much like our own RNAS Culdrose, that straddles the A394 with the airfield one side and accommodation the other so Kinloss Barracks straddles the B9089. Now when Josh talks to us about cycling from his room to work I can visualise it.

A visit to Elgin before heading back to shower and change pre Chinese meal. Sam selected a ‘booth’ which was a bit of a squeeze, more so when all the plates and glasses started to appear but lots of fun and lots of laughter.

Our only full day here with Josh but what a great time we are having.
