The World Is Going Pink

The only picture taken!
But looking down into the big green signed shop it seems that you can only get pink things for girls (with maybe a couple of yellow things).
You can take this "girlie" thing too far you know.

This is technically a 'backblip' because I was going to take my camera to a works reunion but left it in the car ......... which SWMBO went out in before my lift arrived.
I had intended taking some pictures of the wrinkled/knarled/decrepit folks I used to work with (actually some of them still looked remarkably good for the advancing years .... mainly the women I hasten to add) but that obviously wasn't on the cards.

The reason for the gathering was the impending destruction of the Scottish Police Service which will come about at the beginning of April (very apt timing).
There were 130 of us who used to work from the old Southside police station (which shut in 1989) in the days when you were able to have a sense of humour, use discretion and not worry about risk assessments. There was also a lot of 'corner cutting', dodgy dealing and work practices there weren't accutally technically legal ........... but the solved crime rates were never higher.
Never again will there be gathered together so many colourful characters who would do what it took to get the criminals behind bars.

With all the chatting and banter going on - bearing in mond there were people who had worked very closely but hadn't seen each other for for in excess of 20 years it was hard for order to be maintained to enable the speakers to do their bit.
And what good speakers they were too ...... a couple of guys from the job and Ian Rankin.
I think there were more trade secrets let out by him last night than he would normally - simply because of the company he was in.

5 hours has never passed so quickly or brought back so many memories.
It was just a pity that so many faces who should have been there are no longer with us.
Life styles and life expectancies have changed (when I joined the job the average life expectancy after retirement was just 7 years) and time marches on so it is only to be expected.
