hearts and flowers
After a dreich start to the day, blue skies and sunshine started to appear from the west. Joanna and I met up for a circular walk around Dunscore. I discovered that there is an impressive viaduct which used to carry the railway - we saw it from the road and will explore properly another day. The Cairn Valley Light Railway was built in 1905. It ran between Moniaive and Dumfries but closed to passengers in 1943 and for good in 1949. Such a shame that it isn't open now.
The extra shows the view from where Joanna and I were sitting when I took this photo.
