Ringed Plovers

I did the WeBS today at the Peedie Sea in Kirkwall (ie the wetland birds survey) There were 45 of these plovers, 50 wigeon, 29 mallard, 14 tufted duck, 2 red-breasted mergansers, 13 goldeneye. 12 long-tailed duck etc. Not bad for an urban pond! I haven't been out much for a week or so- just very grey and wet and I am down to one eye as I recover from a retina repair, so am avoiding walks with any scrambling. That will improve soon and I'll get out more.
