Purple Sandpiper
There were about 25 of these on the shore of Bay of Birsay today. The rain had just started as I tried to get a shot, which was a bit annoying, but I like the drops of water on the bird. Maybe raindrops, maybe seawater. There were a few turnstone, ringed plover, cormorants, wigeon, mallard etc but pretty quiet really. I hoped for a white-winged gull- a glaucous or Iceland, but maybe next time.
