8 years in the making!

Today we had a socially distanced event at our allotment. Mulled wine, cakes, chutney, fudge etc on sale to raise funds for the allotment and for a local charity. I was happy to support this, despite the drizzle!

One of the things on sale was bunches of mistletoe. I was happy to pay £1 for a bunch. One of the people at the plot has grown it from a berry which they had taken from some mistletoe growing on an apple tree at the allotment and she managed to get it to ‘take’ on her plots apple tree. It has taken 8 years to get to the stage where she could pick sizeable bunches. I am very impressed with her patience and persistence.
There are huge bunches of mistletoe in nearby Bushy Park but they are very high up in the trees there.
