Radu Lupu
Today's the day ……………………….. to say 'Thank you for the music ...'
That is what PaulaJ and Knottman2 have already said today, it being the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth - and I heartily agree. The CD that I would choose to blip is that one above and here's the reason why.
The very first time that Will asked me out, was to a concert in the Music Hall in Aberdeen featuring the then exciting young Romanian pianist, Radu Lapu. He was performing, among other pieces, Beethoven's Piano Concerto No 4 in G major, op 58. The concert was magnificent and as they say, the rest is history - for us - and Radu Lapu!
We have loved this particular piano concerto ever since and this is a much-played CD in our house. My cousin Robbie from South Africa was visiting last year and he liked it too - so we thought we would get another copy and send it to him as a surprise. We posted it off in April this year and incredibly got a text from him today to say thank you - the CD had arrived. Goodness knows where it's been these past eight months?
But, as everyone today is agreeing - Beethoven's music is worth waiting for and will be forever enjoyed the world over ………………….
