St Laurence's, with Portuguese custard tarts
So here we are at the market again. The Shambles marketplace leads on to St Laurence's church and churchyard. My stall is in the church hall. Social distancing has forced some sellers to tout their wares in the graveyard, including the woman who calls out all day , Port-u-guese custard tarts! I didn't buy any because they're not gluten free, and I was annoyed that the yew tree ruined my view of the spire, but I had only nipped out for a minute.
I had a good day, sales-wise, but we are both sobered by the news that parts of England are under new, tighter restrictions, and Christmas has changed for everyone. The latter part comes as no surprise, but I am concerned about the new variant of the virus, which is up to 70% MORE transmissible, apparently. I foresee another lockdown for England.
