Just when it could not get any worse ...
It just did... with first the PM and then the FM imposing severe new Festive lockdowns in response to a virulent mutation of the Coronavirus this afternoon.
We had already bitten our own Christmas bullet some time ago in postponing meeting our children and grandchildren until the spring. It was a tough call and not taken lightly. The only good thing about this evening’s announcements was that we had already worked through the heartache and were rolling with it. The FM said she felt like crying as she announced the closure of Scotland’s borders. I empathise this evening with all those who are crying at this unexpected sudden change in so many plans.
While it was still mild and sunny we walked the familiar eastern boundary of the City. We saw a full rainbow over the Firth of Forth and in the Newhailes woods encouraging signs of spring growth. When these buds come to bloom it will be a new year and hopefully a healthier one for all.
This evening we had a lovely video catch up with Egyptian friends who live in Switzerland.
