Story time
The fourth Sunday of Advent today so the focus at church was on Mary.
Back home we stood pruned some bushes in the front garden and I finally got around to planting the last of the bulbs I bought.
Katy and the girls came round about 3 and we all sat in the garden, in December.....! We managed to persuade the girls not to bring board games into the garden but they were determined to have stories. You can see the flashing lights of the hats I bought them reflecting in Colin's face.
Can you imagine a year ago saying we'd be sitting in the back garden the week before Christmas reading stories!
This evening we had the second of our advent evening services in church. A singer behind a screen and a guitarist with a combination of carols and folk songs with an Advent theme. There were also bible readings (from me) and some other readings which formed the basis of our meditation. A good evening and preparation for Christmas.
I went to Lidl on my way home from church at 8.30pm and got almost everything still on my food shopping list. The shop was empty.
I'm so sorry for those whose plans and hopes have been dashed by yesterday's announcements. We are lucky not to have planned a family event, but I know many others had.
