Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2020 Thursday — Elf on the Shelf

This is a photo our granddaughter Desiree in San Diego posted on her social media. The illumination behind the handwritten note makes it difficult to read, but I’m sure our three little great-grands living in that house are getting a grasp on the reality that Christmas in their home is the celebration of the birthday of a King.

We are having the privilege of watching the teaching being passed-in from our parents to us, from us to our kids, from our kids to our grandkids, and now to the youngest generation, our great-grandkids.

I’m very grateful that my parents taught me about God when I was a youngster. My wonderful stepdad, Pops, was German, so we were active and participated at the Lutheran Church. Now days when I hear hymns, I know the words and the melody, and I count it as a valuable part of my education and heritage. Alistair Begg from Parkside Church in Cleveland, Ohio, who we watch online every Sunday, just mentioned the hymns in his sermon this past Sunday and the wealth of knowledge they contain.

Eternity is a very long time, it’s forever! So when we neglect teaching our children about God, we have missed a significant part of life. Physical, spiritual, and emotional — each is important. When someone tells me they don’t believe in God, they believe in science, I think “So does God. He created science.”

I’m thankful my parents nurtured my spiritual life. It has added immense blessing to my life and to the life of my family.

That’s Thursday!
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
and Chloe & Mitzi too!
