2020 Friday — Mitzi to the Vet
Yesterday afternoon we took Mitzi to the veterinarian for an exam because she seems to be choking often after she drinks water or occasionally when she comes running in from being outside.
The vet said Mitzi probably has a trachea that is narrowing, which is somewhat common in small dogs as they age. The vet gave us some liquid medicine to help with that. I know that getting liquid medicine down her throat won’t be easy. The vet also said it will cause her to be sleepy. Mitzi already sleeps more than she used to because she is aging. So I’m not excited about her sleeping more. So we’ll see.
The vet also said she’d like to take a blood test and a urine test when Mitzi has had a 12 hour fast from food. So that means bringing her in first thing in the morning. So that’s what’s happening in this photo.
The veterinary office opens at 8:00 a.m. and Mitzi was to arrive as they opened for both tests.
Later we learned that Mitzi has the beginnings of liver disease. This is very disturbing because that is what caused Max’s death last March. So a prescription has been started to help with that.
So this begins another chapter in our lives with dogs or I should say with aging dogs. These little critters sure get into our hearts and emotions.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
and Chloe & Mitzi too!
