Preparations
In the extra - other preparations.
Our scaled back Christmas dinner will take place tomorrow. Wigilia, Christmas Eve, is the big day in Poland. Our grandson's mother is Polish which is wonderful (in lots of ways) and particularly this year as we can borrow the tradition. Not that we'll be seeing her, eating carp or dumplings or having a vigil. As far as 2020 is concerned do whatever you like, whenever you like, do nothing, start now or wait till the spring. Do what works best for you and enjoy as much as you can.
The extra - I don't make a traditional Christmas cake. Not that I don't like fruit cake - I do and especially the ones you eat with a bit of Wensleydale. The marzipan and royal icing don't do it for me. And gluten free flour is such a risky thing to use for a rich, heavy cake. So here are some festive cupcakes waiting to be delivered to little ones. Probably their sugar allowance for the year. Grandma's privilege.
Fresh local vegetables to offset the sugar. So glad they haven't been stuck in a lorry at one of the channel ports. That really is grim.
More Christmas Songbook tonight. Looking forward to that.
