A change of plan
That’s nothing new these days!!!
R & S were due to come over to spend Christmas with us, so we sorted out menus and a list of requirements. We were going to share the preparation and cooking. But as it is they will only be over for Christmas Day, not complaining, just grateful for the time that we can share.
So today I started with the preparations, two things that I can do in advance. Red cabbage with port, prunes and orange, a new one on me, and mulled cranberry and apple sauce.
Red cabbage is something that we may eat out, but not at home. When it’s cooked it’s red (stating the obvious) but in its raw state it looks much more appealing! Quite pretty!!!
The recipe required it be cooked in the oven. I had to retrieved a large casserole dish, with a lid, from the charity shop donation pile. Stuff that has not been used for years was found in the lockdown tidy up and was on it’s way out!!!
