Mascot
Was determined not to have another Blue Saturday (home alone) with my husband out working. He went to work at 8am yesterday and got back at 4am this morning. Pretty standard hours when you're opening a new venue I'm told. The hospitality industry has its own set of rules. I gave up expressing my shock at the working hours a long time ago.
It meant I got little sleep last night though as I was waiting for him to get home. I'd originally planned to drive up to see his Mum but on no sleep I didn't think it was the best idea (on a few levels).
In the end, we decided to drive into the city with him. Audrey and I had lunch at Wagamamas and a pootle round some book shops (for her). She managed to sleep while I shopped which was new as she normally wakes when the pram stops (i.e. if I stop to browse).
In the afternoon we went to see my husband and hung out at his new place as the staff were setting up for this evening's soft launches.
Audrey absolutely loved it in there. It is light and airy and with all the lights and sounds, she was in her element. We parked ourselves in a leather booth and Audrey was able to crawl along the wood tops. Her favourite moment was being pulled along so she slid across the shiny surface. Her squeals of delight meant before we knew it we had a crowd of waitresses cooing over her and asking to hold her. She charmed them all, smiling and singing.
We let her have a crawl on the bowling lanes (see pic) and one of the girls remarked that she could be the venue's mascot. I don't know about that but I do know we've found a new hang out. They can expect to see a lot more of us, that's for sure!
A great day.
