Sodden

H and I did the Bayfield Bird Walk this morning, a better morning than yesterday and I remembered to wear my walking trousers with the fleece lining so I was nice and toasty. We've had a lot of rain over the last 3 months and the water level is very high and a lot of fields are completely sodden. The field in the bottom photo has had standing water in it for 3 months now and river levels are higher than I've seen since I moved here. Nothing like the flooding in Beds and Northants obviously, but a lot of rain in an area that generally gets very little.  Fingers crossed that there's not too much additional damage overnight by Storm Bella in areas already badly affected. 

Day 286 / Day 7 of the 4 Tiers (for my record only)
UK deaths up 230 to 70,436 (revised basis), with 34,693 new cases, 21,286 patients in hospital and 1,529 on ventilation (only data for England is being updated every day during the xmas/new year period). Another 6m people in England moved into Tier 4 at midnight, including those here in Norfolk, with a number of other areas moving up into Tier 3. All trucks have now left the holding area at Manston airfield on their way to Dover. 15,526 tests have been undertaken, with 36 drivers testing positive. A trial called Storm Chaser has started in London of an antibody treatment created by AstraZeneca, which aims to treat people exposed to the disease and prevent them developing COVID-19.
