Boxing Day Egrets

Dull and damp today after yesterday's lovely sunshine. I think it's just as well that MrQ's planned birthday brunch in the glasshouse didn't go ahead owing to Tier 4 regulations. I think we would have struggled to muster the enthusiasm out there today. The wind is getting up alarmingly this evening.

This little egret was perched in the gum tree on the island in the lake this morning. I've seen one here a couple of times before. As we continued round we could see Jack heron perched too. He saw us and took off. This spooked the egret and another that I hadn't spotted. I've added them in flight to extras. Never seen a pair before, I hope they return and maybe breed.
