The Princess and the Dog

Dear O'H dear and Lovely Tea Jenny,

Merry Christmas!

We had a brilliant morning. It’s my favourite part of Christmas Day (especially when it’s just the five of us). I LOVE watching The Mini Princesses opening their presents and Murphy kept up the tradition of destroying (not one, but two) new toys within 10 minutes of opening them!

Mary Doll and Victor came round for Christmas dinner. I think it’s fair to say that having not seen us for weeks, Mary Doll was VERY excited. It’s also fair to say that her over-excitement extended to Prosecco consumption. And insanity. The top contenders for ‘most bonkers moment of the day’ were:

1. The attempt to steal the Christmas pudding table decoration (a present from YMP) by putting it in her bag whilst p1ssing herself laughing.

2. The racing polar bear cracker game. Mary Doll’s polar bear kept coming last - a clear sign that her bear was broken/we were all cheating. Nothing to do with the fact that she couldn’t work it and it was drunk by proxy.

3. The dancing! At 6 pm, she insisted that one of us should ‘jive’ with her in the kitchen! The MP’s were horrified by this* so I reluctantly took one for the team. Thankfully it didn’t last long as Murphy was very confused and started barking until we stopped. Phew!

Despite the bonkers moments, she was on great form. I know she finds it really hard not seeing her grandchildren and I’m so glad we could have them round for Christmas Day.

Mary Doll: “Ok, you’ll dance YMP”
YMP: “No”
Mary Doll: “Why not?”
YMP: “Mainly because I REALLY don’t want to”
