The Arrival of the Hamper

2020 was determined to go out as miserably as ever, in a half light of wet snow and rain. Determined to get out for at least an hour, I donned combative gear and strode forth into the snow and cold, walking through the snowy tussocks of the Meadows and watching children sledging down runs honed to perfection of slipperiness while noticing at the same time the blue lights of ambulances racing along the nearby road, wondering at the misfortune and fate of those going to hospital today of all days.

Home to a warm house with the heating on and the all too familiar lonely coffee at the dining room table, before I had the pleasure of unpacking a hamper sent from son#1 in Elgin. It was meant to arrive on the 21st of December, but hey, better late than never. My every need is covered by the contents, weighted on the sweet tooth side, possibly but my weaknesses are acknowledged. Also arriving today were 3 Christmas cards, posted well before Christmas but lying unnoticed in some corner of the mail depot.

David and Luca came to the patio after lunch to collect a calendar and birthday presents for her birthday on January 2nd. She has the same birthday as Daughter #5 which makes for a busy time with a grandson on the 3rd, a granddaughter on the 4th and a daughter in law on the 7th. April was obviously the month for frolicking !
