Bella's New Year

She’s all waggy tail
and sniff sniff sniff
and she’s staring out the window
and wondering if
that brand new year
they’re all mentioning
is nearly here
and what might it bring?
 
And if it arrives
how will she tell
will it have a different sound
will it have a special smell
will someone throw it
for her to retrieve
so she can bring it back
and leave it at their feet?
 
And will it be joyful
will it be fun
will it be better
than the one that’s just gone
for they’re all really keen
that the old one should end
so is it on its way
is it coming round the bend?
