I think that today has been the coldest day of the winter so far. Even the lovely sunshine failed to bring the temperature above freezing here. Brrr! 

I went for 3 mile walk around the local fields and woods this afternoon. Some interesting ice patterns at the side of the roads. I met a couple of my neighbours who had been trimming trees and were burning the brash - a nice way to keep warm.

This evening I've cooked up some curried parsnip and apple soup which should warm us from the inside..and the fire has been lit.

Tonight the clear skies might give us a chance to see some Quandrantid meteors, so after dinner I shall be wrapping up and heading outside to look north.
