Southwell Building Study II - Sacrista Prebend
Not noticed the intricate Emmaus "statue" in this Prebend house opposite the Minster prior to todays walk, until spotted by my wife. The Prebend house has its own chapel and hosts quiet days, retreats and conferences.
Not researched the adjacent Convent of Saint Laurence on the sign in the extra.
Mentioned in the bible and used by numerous charities, in short the biblical town of Emmaus signifies the sharing of food and the caring of others.
It's name is also used by an excellent charity in Newark, that provides support and accomodation for young homeless people, setting them up for a better future and helping them with skills etc to then live independently.
