Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Robert, bless him, came to take Archie out this morning. No icy pavements, but there must have been plenty of MUD up the hill. Though he didn’t fall in it this time. Also, no chit-chatting in the garden with a cuppa afterwards - new tougher lockdown restrictions. But mainly - it was perishing cold.

And so we both settled down, JR after her exercises, to read/listen to podcasts/snooze. But we had very sad news, our pal Mary died. He daughter came to tell us. So sad, though she’s been very ill for quite some time, but she was at home, with her lovely family around her.

I have just discovered a vast new library of interesting podcasts - ABC Radio. I am familiar with the ‘Conversations’ ones, which are varied and interesting, but now I’ve found a whole new world. I listened to a programme about a young woman who can remember every single day of her life, including when she was a baby! (Highly Superior Autobiographical Memory - HSAM). There are about 60 people in the world like this. The interviewer named a random date, and she could say the day of the week, the news of the day, and what she did that day!!

Over one million people now have COVID in the UK! Not going well...

He’s NOT allowed!
