Saas Almagell

This shows some of the very old chalets in the tiny ski resort of Saas Almagell where we skied today.

Our lift pass covers this resort as well as Saas Fee so we decided to try it out today. We like to support the smaller ski resorts and it’s always fun to try somewhere new. Whereas Saas Fee is all about speed (how fast they can get us up the mountain and how fast we come down) this little resort was all about taking it easy. They only have slower chair lifts and so we sat and enjoyed the birds, trees and chamois as we went up the mountain. We hardly saw anyone skiing down...a great way to spend the day.

The extra shows ´take away’ Swiss style. A table at the top of the lift with small glasses of Baileys and other drinks ready to go, flasks of coffee, hot wine amongst other things. There was an honesty box there too.

Also had a x-country ski up the valley when we got back so I shall sleep well tonight.
