Nofukuji Temple

This is the Hyogo Daibatsu, an historic Buddhist temple in Kobe city.

Built by wealthy merchants in the 1890’s it’s a landmark that sailors entering Kobe harbour could see from afar. It is officially considered to be one of the great Buddha’s of Japan along with the Buddhas in Nara and Kamakura.
