Sporting memories

Horrible outside today - cold, raw, foggy - so I did a bit of tidying up, dusting down some old trophies of a sporting life long gone.

There are batting trophies, from my days as a cricketer with the Newton Heath and Prestwich clubs, in Manchester; there are two of my father's golfing ones, from Burton (upon Trent) Golf Club, and there is a random cricket ball, of no significance whatsoever.

Pride of place goes to the barometer, which my father was awarded as a prize in 1934, for feats unknown at Primrose Hill CC, in Huddersfield.

Playing days are fleeting, but memories linger
