Staying safe, staying sane

Professional sport has continued during the pandemic, on television rather than in front of paying audiences, mostly. This is Sydney Cricket Ground, where Australia are playing India. The attendance is fixed at 25% capacity, which means around 10,000 people.

More accurately, they should be playing; it is raining!

At this moment, England are in Sri Lanka, preparing for a series of matches. Sri Lanka are currently finishing their tour to South Africa, and Pakistan are in New Zealand, playing in front of big crowds in that happy country. Elite players have had to endure secure 'bubbles' for weeks on end. They are well paid, but what price do you put on mental health?

Twelve months from now, I hope to be at the wonderful SCG in the picture, watching England, but for that to happen many things have to go well. For one thing, I need to stay alive myself, which is not exactly a 'given', these days.

Hands, face, space + luck + vaccine = Sydney 2022. Perhaps.
