Staying Hopeful

Well the Christmas tree from Norway may be history but the rainbow in front of New College on the Mound was still shining brightly in the half light of an early morning outing to M&S.
There was no early morning baking delivery to Maggies because so few people are able to access the centre during the present lockdown and I have to say I really missed the long walk in the dark to the other side of town.
When I got home from town this morning and settled down for my coffee at the dining room table( how I miss the camaraderie of my Söderberg one), I got an email from my brother with a copy of a quote from Katherine Whithorn in today’s Telegraph describing widowhood as living in another country as an unwilling refugee . Spot on!

When an cycling friend of yesteryear who is much older than me phoned later for a chat (and who incidentally has not yet had any contact with Lothian Health Board either) it made all the difference to my lockdown mood. It’s the isolation that gets to many of us even if we get out and about. Most of us are socially dependent to a large extent, so not seeing people really hurts.
