Oca
Just another episode in the interminable saga of "The Winter of Root Vegetables and Kale". Here's a small amount of oca, or New Zealand yam - had never heard of it before P gave me three tubers last winter (at my birthday bash in the Vaults, come to think of it). It seemed to grow happily enough, but this is one plants-worth, so not very prolific. Cabbagetree knows them well, but finds them too sweet - I put a small one in with some other roasted roots last night and, whoops, must have eaten it without noticing.....so not a strong taste, then!
Still, it's food, don't knock it!
