Tidal channel and little causeway.

We had a WhatsApp video chat with old friends this morning. Both are well.

Out mid afternoon. The land to the right is a Local Nature Reserve island. The estuarine mudflats, foreshore and island were awarded Local Nature Reserve status in 2013. The area was a colliery previously. The Reserve is deemed internationally important for seabirds and is designated as a Special Protection Area for it’s conservation value. The little pedestrian causeway in the channel gives access to the island - it becomes submerged when the estuary flows into the channel; at higher tides the bright green foreground is under water too.
