Midwinter Mouse
Today, while I pottered in my Mum's garden this little mouse appeared. I was surprised to see it out foraging in the middle of the day but I guess it was hungry. I think it is a common house mouse, but still it was entertaining to watch, as it scurried under, and over, the alpine trough, and then nibbled on crumbs of fat ball under the bird feeder. I was interested to see, that despite its diminutive size, the mouse's presence deterred the pied wagtail who watched from a couple of feet away as the mouse fed on the prized morsels of suet.
