A time for everything

Wintry walk along the Little Miami

Tuesday
Much to our surprise we awoke this morning to sunshine and clear blue skies - we had been expecting it to be later in the day before we saw the sun. After breakfast, I sat and did some knitting while drinking my coffee, then we bundled up warm and headed up to John Bryan State Park near Yellow Springs - it can often be 3 or 4 degrees cooler up there. Today, we took the path on the far (south) side of the river along to the next bridge. Being north-facing, there was more snow/ice remaining on this side, and at one point we decided it might be advisable to put our nano-spikes on our boots, which give you better grip. At the bridge, the path returns to the near side, and we continued into Clifton Gorge Preserve towards the narrow gorge. Unfortunately we couldn’t go all the way, as the trail was closed for repair. Along this stretch a great blue heron was on the banks of the river looking out for his dinner and I got quite a nice photo of him, which I have put in extras. We returned to our car along the rim trail - total of almost 6 miles.
Praying fervently for the inauguration tomorrow, that all will go off peacefully, and that at last we will have someone with integrity and compassion in the White House, someone that can be respected, and respects others. I certainly don’t envy either of them the task they have ahead of them!
