Experimental windowsill gardening

After hearing on Radio Scotland about this little hydroponics kit for growing herbs and lettuce I thought I would give it a try and I am amazed at how quickly the seeds have germinated. However, a friend has dampened my enthusiasm (no pun intended) by telling me that this method does not produce a particularly healthy end product. Ah well, back to playing in muck in the spring time!
