Aconites And Snow

The nice bright day invited us to walk round the block, across Fairmilehead Park, with its crisp, deep snow (extra 1) and the few pre-school sledgers, culminating in an inspection of the Gully, the local name for the old sand pits, and the pond, so long absent, rejuvenated by the snow melt, with nice ice pattern (extra 2). It will be interesting to see whether the water remains long enough for the frogs.

I've included this for Flower Friday, thanks to BikerBear for hosting.

Main photo of the early Winter Aconites, which precede Snowdrops, Daffodils and Primroses which grow on the south-facing slope, there are early signs of these with their leaves spearing through the snow. Further along we found a nice crop of fungi, (extra 3) providing a splash of colour against the stark white.
