When Doves Cry

Met up with my friend today for some socially distanced exercise. Weather at home was grey and wet, but only a few miles down the road it was warm and sunny! We enjoyed a very companionable 5K walk round his town taking in the park on the way. Paused at the war memorial to admire this bench. It is one of a group of four, two commemorating 1914 - 1918 and the other two commemorating 1939 - 1945.
Back home for lunch and I managed to bring the sun back with me, though it had obviously been raining heavily whilst I was out. Mrs C needed me to join her on a zoom meeting - she is going to be hosting them for her WI and wanted to check it was set up correctly. Did seem a bit strange, seeing as we were seated side by side in the study, but it all worked fine though I had to mute almost immediately to prevent the howl of feedback resulting from our proximity! I was rewarded for my participation with a slice of freshly baked fruit cake - yum!
Went for a less socially distanced(!) walk with Mrs C in the afternoon, taking advantage of the sun still being out. Still not used to walking through Kendal and it feeling like a Sunday afternoon, regardless of whatever day it actually is. I can’t see that state of affairs changing anytime soon, although the latest figures would seem to indicate that this second wave may finally have reached its peak and is levelling off.
I reckon I’ve earned a second slice of that fruit cake...
