Usually two or three times a week, I walk along this road towards those distant trees but today it was extremely icy with the snow on the verges over the height of our wellies.  So we changed our route where we could walk on roads some of which had been gritted or cleared by the snow plough.  For much of the way there were views towards the Pentlands where yesterday there had been a small avalanche and the local Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue said that it was large enough to knock people off their feet or even be buried.  Until the hard packed icy snow melts we will avoid the road for a few days as even last Tuesday after the thaw there were still patches of snow beside the road.
