Drifting

Ooh
Doop doop, doop doo doop…
A few weeks late but nonetheless a reminder of how this time of year used to be ...or did we just remember the ones when it did?
My snowblower package arrived. Again I went to the front gate to clear it for the postman as it had snowed overnight, and waited till he came. He said I shouldn't have taken the trouble, he wouldn't have risked driving to the house and would have put it in our large letter box.
So at about 14:00 set about trying to put the gearbox back together again and it went incredibly well despite having to do it ouside in a windtunnel surrounding, all tools, nuts and bolts covered in snow. It was -2°C but according to weather app -12°C RealFeel!
And to my amazement at around 16:00, the old girl started and was "pumping" snow again. Had to stop after a 15 megtre demo run as Luna was desperate for her evening walk.
Set off by car to our normal forest walk as the wind was really dreadful but found the tarmaced track was blocked by snow drifts. However, I was pretty sure another track, not in the forest but a little sheltered by a hill would almost certainly be free. It goes from the church to a single storage barn and silage heap. The owner is a part-time farmer and our parish council chief handyman, also with a huge company vehicle, a big Fendt tractor with snow plough that clears most of the village roads. I was sure he would ensure his track was clear. Angie had seen him out on it a few days ao and asked him if he could quickly do our drive - "No, can't do private property with council equipment" - quite right to.
So our walk nwas saved, it was a shortish 2km up the track as far as it went and back with the wind coming from the side, which was bearable. Photo taken at the farmer's/council worker's hut. Some serious drifting.
Nice evening on social media with the UK and feeling lot happier now snowblower working. Although it is due to get warm in 3 or 4 days, need to get as much snow off all the paths we walk on, otherwise the warmth won't get to melt the ice for weeks which has now formed from constantly walking & driving on it. The snow as such is not the hassle.
