Howley Suspension Bridge

A different walk today along what was the route of the Black Bear canal.

This is the Howley pedestrian suspension bridge across the Mersey built in 1912. It was supposed to be a 60ft crossing to alieviate the river crossing at Bridgefoot. But they didn't have enough dosh.
