Instituto Allende

The Instituto Allende, is located in a large Mexican mansion built in the 17th century as a summer retreat house for Count Tomas de la Canal. The building is now home to the school, which offers courses in language and art. The Instituto is affiliated with the University of Guanajuato, and offers a Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts, as well as a Master's degree in Fine Arts. The interior courtyard of the Instituto boasts several wall sized murals as well as a beautiful large centre fountain.Approximately 75% of the students studying at the Instituto are North Americans and ages range from recent high school graduates, to others over 80 years old. Many are studying for credits, while others are solely interested in the persuit of art for pleasure.
