These are two images I was sent on my phone yesterday...the St. Brigid blessings and the cross...my friend sent them....she was given the cross as a gift...
St. Brigid is very special to us here in Co. Kildare....not only is our patron, a lot of our schools have her name and when it came to Confirmation time for us girls in the County, if your name wasn’t Brigid then that is what we took!!
It’s also reputed that when she asked the Chieftain for land to build her Monastery ...he said ‘spread out your cloak’ and you may have the land it covers....so that is allegedly how we have to this day the huge open plain that is The Curragh of Kildare..!!,
