Youth...

"In Kenya, 80% of the country's unemployed population is between 15 and 34 years old, according to a study by the UN Development Programme . That translates into more than 1.8 million unemployed young people. Depending on how many turn up at the polls, they could represent a sizeable bloc in a country with 14.3 million registered voters. Their opinion looms large in an election that is too close to call." The Guardian is better at reporting this than I so read on... Kenyan Youth

I think we have only two more days of campaigning - yeah! Njambi's school closed today, some people will start travelling to their homes and then we sit tight for the weekend and wait to vote on Monday.

But the youth are a huge group of people to think about and to pray about. What future does a guy like this (photo) have in a country with high unemployment and high education rates. There is stiff competition for jobs and job creation, or self-employment, is not always a solution .

Enjoy the day and keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We have been asked to wear white today and at 13:00 to sing the national anthem (wherever we may be) which, in itself, is a prayer. I only know the first few words, "eh Mungu nguvu yetu" which is then translated into "Oh, God, of all creation, bless this our land and nation..."

...and then I get lost in either language!
