Pear on a Post
Our pear tree is laden with pears at the moment - some of which have fallen on the ground, fermenting in the heat, and being eaten by wasps, and other insects.
Tonight when we were down by the pear tree, something all of the sudden moved. On closer inspection, there was a hedgehog, helping itself to all the pears it wanted. It started to waddle out of our way, but it was having trouble walking in a straight line. I reckon it was drunk on fermented pear juice! When we started to get a bit closer, it soon stopped and rolled up in a ball to protect itself .
It's been yet another hot day - 32 degrees C again. Tomorrow is the first day of autumn, so we can only hope that the days will start to cool down.
