Give yourself a time of quiet / Nimm dir Zeit
What advice might you find on the wall of an electricity sub-station, in the corner of a toddler`s playground? I certainly wasn`t expecting extracts from Roman emperor and Stoic philosopher Marcus Aurelius!
But they are wise words. I found a translation (from Arthur Spenser Loat Farquharson in 1944, so rather of its time), which reads: "Do things from outside break in to distract you? Give yourself a time of quiet to learn some new good thing and cease to wander out of your course".
A couple of millennia later, that still sounds like good advice.
