Last of the autumn apple juice

If it was possible, it felt even colder today. In fact it was so cold that we retreated rapidly from the beach to take shelter from the tall buildings that line the promenade.

We were on a 4.5 mile circular walk home from Porty’s monthly market. We returned our empty bottles and bought some of the very last of the autumn pressing from local apples.

We walked through the Figgate Park. We always look in the fast flowing burn for otters. We also scoured the reed-beds from the boardwalk looking for water rail. One had been seen earlier this morning by two birders who told us all about it. We were out of luck on both counts today.

Home to warm up and watch England v Scotland at Twickenham. It was a brilliant game of Scottish ruby and an excellent result. The first Scottish win at Twickenham since 1983!
