The dropped stitch

excitement for the over 70s

Another cold day.

A little more snow appeared overnight - enough to make the roads treacherous in places, especially on higher ground. This is the weekend for the Orkney mass vaccination of 70 - 74 year olds, all called in at a set time, according to the letter of your surname.

M had an 'interesting' drive into Kirkwall to the out patients department of the hospital. On the return trip he was turned back by the police, because of lorries blocking the road on a particularly snowy section. So the drive home was considerably longer than usual.

No harm done, though, and everyone was very happy, I'm sure, to get their jab, with a bonus of catching sight of many friends and acquaintances in the process. Masks and physical distancing had to be adhered to, of course, but I'm sure the 'social' side of the morning gave people a little boost in these days when so many are isolated at home away from friends and missing their usual social activities.
