Makes You Wonder

I finally finished Dava Sobel’s Longitude, fascinating.

“John Harrison’s work facilitated England’s mastery of the oceans, and thereby led to the creation of the British Empire. He led the way in the development of the maritime chronometer”.

I have visited the National Maritime Museum at Greenwich on more than one occasion and never dwelt at his clocks, something I will remedy when we can travel. Its an amazing story and I look forward to seeing H1, H2, H3, H4 and the pocket watch held there.

Sunday was another pyjama day, so much so that I forgot I was to pick up the rugby club keys for my week of opening up.

Today’s Blip Foto is of one of the many creeks on the Helford River around Gweek.
