David Brown 950.
For this weeks Tractor Tuesday Mr Tbay selected this little beauty. He was very pleased to have received this 1/16th scale model for Christmas. When asked for details of this tractor he gave the following synopsis. So for the tractor geeks amongst here we go!
The production of the DB950 commenced on 28th October 1958 but it launch was held back until the Smithfield Show later on in the year. This model was replacing the 900 series which had been less than successful, but the 950 was to change this. Many problems dogged the 900 but care was taken to eradicate that series annoying short comings . So with exceptionally easy steering and a very small turning circle, high ground clearance, variable wheel widths, front and back, a fully adjustable draw bar plus a universal linkage system , it was a winner. Oh, and it had a ‘super comfortable driving seat’ too. Presumably replacing the hessian sack straw filled seat I spent far too many hour seated on in my youth!! One description of it was a ‘thundering good tractor’ !
Other news. Harry continues to improve and has adjusted very quickly to being one handed for the moment. Home schooling was once again the order of he day. Roll on half term says I!!
Bitterly cold but to the children’s disappointments still no snow, just an evil sharp bitting wind!
